As covered in a previous article here, Star Trek: First Frontier tells the untold story of Captain Robert April and the first launching of the starship U.S.S. Enterprise, NCC-1701.

The Kickstarter to fund the film was cancelled. In an update post it read:

Hy, to anyone who happens upon this page, please don’t let the “cancelled” scare you. The movie  hasn’t been cancelled. Only the Kickstarter because I decided to fund the film myself, I no longer needed Kickstarter.

The film has been shot and is deep into post production. Out first day of shooting was September 8, 2015 and it was a 15 day shoot. We are close to shooting the eleven foot USS Enterprise miniature and are getting our pre res for the visual effects. The film turned out better than I could have imagined and shoold be fun to watch for any Star Trek fan who misses the way it used to be.

The premiere is being planned for Dragoncon, September 3, 2016 in Atlanta, GA and will be free to the public.

Filming was completed in 2015 and was scheduled to premiere at Dragoncon in 2016. Due to delays, the film is now scheduled to premiere in April 2020.
