Simon Pegg is set to co-write the next Star Trek film with TV writer Doug Jung reports Deadline. The pair will take over from previous writers Roberto Orci, Patrick McKay and John D Payne, who departed the project after Orci left as director.
Pegg’s official twitter account confirmed the news.

Pegg who plays Montgomery Scott in the new films has already co-written and starred in the Cornetto trilogy of films, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The World’s End as well as Run Fatboy Run and Paul.
Doug Jung is the creator of the TNT series Dark Blue.
Paramount also announced last month that Justin Lin would direct the next film with a July 8, 2016 release date.
