Star Trek actor and director Bruce Hyde passed away on 13 October, after succumbing to throat cancer. Hyde was 74 years old.

He guest starred as Lieutenant Kevin T. Riley in the original series episodes “The Naked Time” and “The Conscience of the King“. Hyde sung the memorable song “I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen.”

He was also a professor of communication studies at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. He had taught for over 25 years until earlier this year, when he retired due to the return of the throat cancer he’d been diagnosed with and beaten in 2010.

Hyde is survived by his wife of 20 years, Susan Saetre, stepchildren Ben and Tim, granddaughter Joliva and his sister, Janie Hyde Miller.
