Dragon PrecinctThis is a new graphic novel with the characters from the popular fantasy/mystery series by Keith R.A. DeCandido, with art by JK Woodward.

Keith R.A. DeCandido is the award-winning and best-selling author of some fifty novels, tons of short stories, blog entries, and more. These include numerous media tie-in books for properties such as Star Trek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Andromeda, Farscape, Leverage, Spider-Man, and X-Men.

JK Woodward is a comic book illustrator whose credits include Fallen Angel, Star Trek, X-men Origins:Beast and most recently, Star Trek:The Next Generation/Doctor Who:Assimilation2.

Here is the kickstarter project:

Keith has been chronicling the adventures of Torin ban Wyvald, Danthres Tresyllione, and the rest of the Castle Guard, since 2004. They try to maintain law and order in the port town of Cliff’s End, a city-state that is filled with humans, elves, dwarves, halflings, gnomes, and wizards. These fantasy police procedurals were referred to by one reviewer as “Dungeons & Dragnet,” and have gotten acclaim from sources ranging from respected magazines to review blogs.

KeithDeCandidoEach story sees the detectives of the Castle Guard — aided by the M.E. (the magickal examiner, a mage on loan from the Brotherhood of Wizards, who casts a “peel-back” spell on a crime scene) — solving a crime that happens within the demesne of Cliff’s End, dealing with lying witnesses, multiple suspects, jurisdictional issues involving the Brotherhood, and the politics of the city-state.

JK WoodwardThe plot of this 100-page graphic novel will involve a serial killer in Cliff’s End — kind of. Magick will of course be involved, complicating everything. As an added bonus, you’ll finally get to see the streets of Cliff’s End, see Torin, Danthres, Osric, Grovis, Iaian, Dru, Hawk, Jonas, Boneen, and the rest.

Keith is producing the graphic novel entirely by himself and can only do it if he reaches his goal of $40,000. This will pay for the art and cover (by JK), and for the lettering, production, printing, and distribution. This will also cover the Keith’s time when writing the 100 pages.

If Keith gets all the funding he needs, the graphic novel will be produced and distributed through book and comics distributors, both in print and electronic form.
